Our roots can be traced back to the 1940’s when brothers Peter Knapp (PK) and Edward (Ted) Braund opened up Braund’s IDA Drugstore. And though ownership, location and name changes have occurred over the years, Huntsville’s Hometown IDA Drugstore has remained committed to its customers by providing friendly, personal service.

In addition to prescription services and home healthcare we carry topographic maps of the surrounding area and can special order in others. We have a reverse osmosis system that provides pure water as well as an extensive health and beauty section.

Though we call ourselves an “olde fashioned” drugstore, our dispensary is anything but. Partnered with one of Canada’s leading pharmacy software vendors we have a sophisticated system to keep track of your prescriptions as well as any food/drug interactions and allergies.

With the new MEDSCHECK service you can have a private half hour with a pharmacist to talk about your medications. It’s free. Call us for details.

We offer free in-town prescription delivery and free counseling for the best and safest non-prescription medication to treat minor ailments. Blister carding is also available for individuals who are having difficulty managing their medications.

We accept most drug plans and TRANSFERRING PRESCRIPTIONS to us is easy. We will also destroy your expired and unneeded medications in an environmentally friendly manner. But most importantly we take the time to make sure that your prescription is right and safe for you. (Due to legal and professional issues we do not participate in internet dispensing.)

Home Health Care

Home healthcare supplies and equipment are a major segment of our product line. With two dedicated staff on hand we carry diabetic, ostomy, continence, and mastectomy supplies.

We also have braces, compression socks and stockings, bathroom safety products, breast feeding pumps, mobility and post-operative aids.

Canes and pillows are available as well. We rent wheelchairs, walkers, commodes and bath benches for short term need.
