FROM A to C: State-of-the-art auto body services at ABC MUSKOKA INC. have you covered

Five seconds is all it takes: it’s the difference between calmly parking your car and an episode of trailer- tongue rage.

When it comes to auto body collision, repairing the Crunch! of bumper- meets-trailer-tongue is as important as larger collision repairs, says Steve Smith, owner of ABC Muskoka Inc. Even small dings need to be repaired quickly and properly to keep them from becoming big, rusty problems.

And even if you do have serious rust, Steve says it’s not always about replacement parts. Cutting out rusted portions of panels is sometimes the most cost-effective way to make a repair, but it’s not something just any shop will do; however, at ABC Muskoka Inc. it is one of the options.

A bright, clean open concept workplace allows customers to see works-in-progress. “Customers don’t realize how big the shop is and how many vehicles we can fit,” says Steve. “The shop can accommodate up to 10 cars or 7 pickups, with one more in the booth for paint.”

“We’ve quickly established roots, and our business has been growing steadily,” Steve continues. “We currently have two licensed auto body technicians and one apprentice, and are planning to hire one more licensed technician this spring.”

Steve emphasizes that quality work and meeting customers’ vehicle- return deadlines are critical to customer satisfaction. “At ABC Muskoka we make every effort to complete the work on time so that customers aren’t further inconvenienced.” Customer service and pride of workmanship also mean that vehicles are personally screened by Steve before they leave the shop.

CLEAN UP SEASON: Fall and winter are the ideal time to let ABC MUSKOKA bring new life to your work and personal vehicles

Fall is the time to clean up and put things away before winter hits, and that attitude applies to vehicles as well as to homes and cottages.

“We know that winter weather is hard on vehicles, that salt can really take its toll,” says Steve Smith, owner of ABC Muskoka. “With salt and wet roads, the small rust spot you see
at the bottom of your door or in the wheel well now will very quickly become a serious rust hole.”

Dealing with those small damage spots now can save a larger expense in spring, he advises.

That can also save time, particularly in Muskoka where spring can be an incredibly busy season for many people. “From spring through the summer, most people need their vehicles every day,” says Steve. “That’s particularly true for contractors, who have their fleet on the go steadily.”

In the fall, as things slow down a bit, it’s often easier to get the vehicles taken care of.

“A lot of contractors know that this is the time of year to take care of those small jobs that weren’t a priority in the summer,” Steve says. “A scrape or dent in the side of the truck doesn’t look very professional, but it might not have been possible to have it in the shop for a day in mid-summer. Fall is when those things are typically done.”

And, he adds, that also applies to personal vehicles: if you are looking forward to a winter vacation,
that’s an ideal time to get work done on your personal vehicle. “Rather than leaving it in the garage at home while you’re in the Dominican or Cuba, let us take care of any bodywork so it’s ready when you return.

Steve has more than 20 years of experience taking care of vehicles, and expertise in everything
from rebuilding body panels to straightening bent frames.

His expertise has led to steady growth in business since ABC opened last year. “We’ve already hired another apprentice, and we’re really looking hard to find another licensed Auto Body Repairer.”

“The customers have been tremendous – we really appreciate all the support since opening.”

Located between Bracebridge and Port Carling, ABC offers a full range of auto body services, from frame straightening to painting. Insurance claims are processed quickly and smoothly.

Steve and his crew have also brought their skills to bear on an array of specialty projects.“We customized some golf carts for
a client this summer,” Steve says with a laugh. “And we sanded and repainted a full set of cast iron patio furniture.”

“Because we have the equipment, including a large spray booth, we’re happy to use it for specialty projects from time to time.”

Taking Care of Bodywork Before Winter Saves Time and Money - Dockside Magazine October 2019

Taking care of bodywork before winter saves time and money

Now is the ideal time to fix any rust, dings, dents or scratches on your vehicle, before winter gets a chance to make things worse.

Leaving imperfections unattended in the salt season means your vehicle can become more susceptible to extreme rust and corrosion, which can be costly to fix, says Steve Smith, owner of ABC Muskoka.

Addressing damage from minor incidents and from regular wear and tear will keep your vehicle looking good and operating well.

“Salt and wet roads can quickly turn a small rust spot into a serious hole by the spring,” says Steve. “By taking care of the minor issues now, you’ll be saving a huge expense later.”

The off-season is also the ideal time for contractors to get their vehicles looking great again before the busy spring and summer seasons return. Steve says many contractors take this time to fix the little dents and rust spots because they can’t afford to have a vehicle off the road in the summer.

“It’s also a good time for looking after your personal vehicles,” says Steve. “If you’re planning a winter vacation, we can take care of the bodywork while you’re away.”

Located between Bracebridge and Port Carling, the full-service body shop repairs all manners of dents, scratches, rust and more, while also performing auto glass and windshield replacement, painting, headlight polishing, and other customized services.

ABC Muskoka has also expanded their paint booth offerings: they can spray a fresh coat of paint on lawn furniture, kitchen cupboards and more.

“We’ll paint almost anything you want.”
