Brace yourselves... #WinterIsComing and gaps will follow.
Why is winter so hard on wood floors?
The reason is very simple. During cold weather, our homes are typically kept as closed and sealed up as possible to avoid losing precious heat. As it gets colder outside, indoor heating systems work overtime to maintain a comfortable environment, endlessly recycling and reheating the air inside our house. The result is a dramatic loss of humidity; the air gets drier and drier.
As the wood dries, it shrinks.
Think about getting a humidifier, say, or a more regulated heating regimen – to keep the home environment comfortable and the winter gaps at bay.
